Olympia's Tour (NL) >>> UPDATE FROM ALEŠ MURN!
A few weeks ago I met the Slovenian Adria-Mobil Cycling Team at Olympia's Tour!!! They were participating in this amateur-race in Holland (12-20 May).
It's ME on the photo, together with the cyclists of the Adria-Mobil Team!!! (Before the start of Stage 5)
In the afternoon there was a time-trial where I met Ales Murn, brother of Uros!! He was working with the team as a mechanic.
He gave me an update about Uros' situation! ;
"Uros is feeling much better now, he's riding his bike for about 3 hours a day, but still very slowly... He's also recovering at the Spa."
Ales said he doesn't know when Uros can make his comeback or if he ever can race again... That will depend on his recovery...
"But he has good spirit!"
It was really a bad crash... His leg was broken in several places...
Uros got surgery and they put screws in his leg... "It was horrible", his brother said... "It's such a shame because he was in great shape before the accident!..."
Well, I was pleased to know that it's going better with Uros at the moment!
Let's hope that he soon will be able to race again! So we can finally see him riding with his new team!!! ;)

Hombrechtikon, 2006-08-15
Team owner Andy Rihs withdraws from pro cycling. After carefully examining all the alternatives, he will disband the Phonak Cycling Team at the end of the year. The deciding factor in this decision is the doping case of team captain Floyd Landis.
“As a passionate cyclist, I am bitterly disappointed that the sport of cycling apparently has become a synonym for doping. I truly regret this development and it has brought me to the decision of disbanding the Phonak Cycling Team per the end of 2006,” Andy Rihs explains the reason for his decision. He has done everything possible to avoid any doping cases in his team and had even introduced the strictest controls internally of all ProTour teams. Nevertheless, the fatal solo initiative of one rider could not be avoided. “For this reason, today I see myself forced to do something I have never done in my whole life as a businessman: I have given up!” Rihs said and emphasized that this decision has been very difficult for him. “I am particularly sorry for our young promising Swiss riders who share no guilt in this development, as well as for the competent staff members.” The team offered numerous young as well as experienced Swiss and international riders the opportunity of participating in the sport of cycling at its highest level over the last seven years. “I deeply regret that I can no longer do this in the future.”
Together with the team management, Rihs intensively looked for alternatives over the last several days. However, after careful consideration and examination of all possibilities, it has become clear that successor solutions for the Phonak Cycling Team are not possible – for financial reasons and also due to the uncertainty with regard to the renewal of the ProTour licence that expires at the end of this year. Rihs came to an agreement with the new global title sponsor iShares regarding an early termination of the title sponsorship contract.
The team will continue to participate in all the races scheduled for the remainder of 2006. The riders will thus have the opportunity of presenting themselves as valid candidates for other teams. Also, Rihs will support – wherever possible - the employees, in particular the young Swiss riders, in their searches for new jobs.

Phonak intends to win
The Phonak Cycling Team intends to win the 45-km team time trial in Eindhoven next Sunday after having missed out on a victory last year by three seconds. The biggest opponents in terms of that will be the Gerolsteiner, Discovery Channel and CSC teams. Because this year's Tour de France will not have a team time trial, the signs are a bit different. Nevertheless, this competition is enormously important. "Once again the material will be tested in order to have the best conditions in the individual time trials at the Tour de France," says Directeur Sportif Juan Fernandez. The Phonak riders also welcome another chance to gain race experience two weeks ahead of the start of the Grande Boucle.
The Line-Up:
Bert Grabsch, Fabrizio Guidi, Ryder Hesjedal, Koos Moerenhout, Uros Murn, Victor Hugo Peña, Florian Stalder, David Vitoria.

Murn withdraws for Amstel Gold Race
Bert Grabsch will be taking the place of Uros Murn in the line-up for the Amstel Gold Race. Although Murn, who suffered a crash, is no longer feeling any pain in the injured hand, he decided not to compete: "In a very nervous race, the fear factor would indeed play too big a role." Murn will be a part of the line-up again for La Flèche Wallonne and Liège–Bastogne–Liège.

Murn crashes again
More bad luck for Uros Murn: After crashing at the Ronde van Vlaanderen, the Slovenian rider was involved in another crash at Paris–Roubaix. Last Sunday he had to have stitches in his elbow. Today, it was two fingers on his right hand. Murn also suffered abrasions and bruises on his entire right leg. At the moment it's unclear whether these injuries will prevent him from competing at the Amstel Gold Race on Easter Sunday. «Crashes like this are annoying, but they're a part of professional cycling. Apart from that, I feel like I'm in good shape and hope I'll be fit to race again as soon as possible,» said the 31-year-old, still motivated.

Uros Murn will be able to compete again as early as Wednesday when he takes part in Gent–Wevelgem.
